Frequently Asked Questions

Sensory Smarter consulting is a way to explore how your brain and body take in the world around you. Instead of focusing on fixing problems, we look at your sensory patterns as valuable data. Together, we identify what supports your regulation, what drains it, and how to build small strategies — what I call sensory sips — into your day so you can feel more balanced, focused, and yourself.
-
While I am an occupational therapist, Sensory Smarter consulting is not occupational therapy services. Instead of direct therapy, this work focuses on learning, shifting perspectives, and co-creating supportive strategies. Think of it as guidance and strategy-building for everyday regulation, not clinical treatment.

Not at all. We all have sensory processing differences that affect how we interact with the world. Many people who benefit from Sensory Smarter Consulting don’t have a formal diagnosis, or are only just beginning to explore one. Whether you identify as ADHD, Autistic, AudHD, highly sensitive, or just “always overstimulated,” you’re welcome here.

Sensory sips are small, intentional strategies you can “sip” throughout your day to keep your nervous system regulated. Just like sipping water prevents dehydration, sipping sensory input helps you stay balanced. These aren’t overwhelming routines — they’re micro-shifts designed for your unique needs.

We’ll start with a conversation — no tests, no judgement. I’ll ask about your daily routines, environments, and stress points. From there, we’ll map out your sensory profile, identify where dysregulation shows up, and co-create a plan of sensory sips tailored to you.

No, sensory consulting is not covered by insurance. It’s considered educational and wellness coaching. Many clients find it worth the investment for the lasting tools and strategies they gain.
-
Right now, Sensory Smarter focuses on neurodivergent adults. While I draw from my background as a pediatric OT, this space is for grown-ups who may have missed out on learning these sensory regulation skills early in life.

Yes! Since this is consulting and not therapy, I can work with clients virtually, no matter where you’re located. Sessions are held over video call and resources are delivered digitally.
